So you want a Career in Construction!
Carpenters and joiners make and install wooden structures, fixtures and fittings, which are used in a wide variety of construction projects. This could include fitting floorboards, skirting, window frames and doors in domestic household jobs to fixing roof trusses and partitions for a commercial project; preparing shop fronts, storage and shelving for retail outlets through to building wooden casements to support setting concrete in structures such as bridges or foundation pillars.
QUALIFICATIONS
Your target qualification will depend on which programme you are on.
This course is available through the Training for Success programme under options for Skills for Your Life & Skills for Work. It is an introductory course looking at joinery skills, in particular firest fixing and second fixing.
The course is available in the Training for Success Pre-Apprenticeship programme and ApprenticeshipNI programmes. It will cover a wide range of skill areas in Joinery including first fixing, seconding fixing, roofing & Carcassing. It will provide you with the knowledge & understanding to carry out an effective role as a tradesperson.
The course is available in the Training for Success Pre-Apprenticeship programme and ApprenticeshipNI programmes. This is your trade qualification that will allow you to be recognised as a Joiner. You will be assessed in the full range of skills in site joinery or bench joinery while working at work. When taking part in any of these courses you can also benefit from additional qualifications that will enhance your career prospects. These include:
